Abstract
Western Therapy is an intergenerational exploration of Chinese-Malaysian heritage, delving into the personal and collective experiences of three generations of women in my family. Through lyrical nonlinear storytelling, I interrogate my identity as a biracial Chinese-American woman and how it relates to my mother's immigration to the U.S. in the 70s, and my grandmother's life in Japanese-occupied Malaya during World War II. My work addresses themes such as race and gender dynamics, and attachment theory, applied within a non-Western context.
