Abstract
This project is an exploration of creativity and finding different avenues to accessing the creative state of mind when creating music. Find My Intention, Run Away, and Never Stop Lovin’ You are three examples of songs that are the product of this research. This paper is a reflection of the songwriting and arranging processes of each of these tunes and how I was able to navigate the obstacles that came along the way using creative outlets that I have discovered throughout this project. I found ways to use my experience in a wide variety of genres, spanning from opera and musical theater to RnB and soul, to find my unique songwriting voice. This paper demonstrates the learning process of writing for my voice and how I could best highlight the instrument that I carry. The project is centered around breaking the self-doubt concept and exploring tools to be in a creative space where there is no judgment of the outcome.
