Abstract
This culminating experience project, titled "Curiosity as Resistance: Shifting from Racial Microaggressions to a Flourishing AAPI Community," originated from my personal experiences with racial microaggressions as a Korean international student in the United States. From there, my focus broadened into studying Asian American history and understanding how modern forms of hate and microaggressions continue to persist. Grounded in the project’s core philosophy of using curiosity as resistance, the presentation features five of my original compositions, each representing a different stage of individual and systemic AAPI hate, as well as my personal journey of transforming that pain into resistance. This project aims to raise awareness of AAPI hate, encourage collective community action, and ultimately contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.
