The Organism System Architecture: An Exploration of the Interactive Medium
Files
Abstract
In his Culminating Experience project, the author will curate the system architecture behind a generative, collaborative, interactive audiovisual installation built as part of Berklee Valencia’s Multimedia Installation class led by Marta Verde Baqueiro. The project incorporates artificial intelligence into various aspects of its development. Intuitive control mechanisms—a PS5 controller, and touch-control device—connect to two separate HTML5 interfaces which send MIDI data to a central Ableton session, generating unique compositions within G major pentatonic. Simultaneously, a Max for Live device receives the same MIDI data within Ableton, influencing parameters of a reactive visual. The advancements in AI technology in the mid-2020s expand the scope of what is pragmatically achievable within the boundaries of interactive media. Additionally, the author breaches issues of authorship and intellectual property in novel processes of human-LLM co-creation.
