Abstract
This project documents the production and immersive mixing of a Hip-Hop EP using Dolby Atmos, a spatial audio format that enables sound to be positioned and moved within a three-dimensional listening field. Motivated by the observed gap between the technical availability of immersive audio tools and their thoughtful application within Hip-Hop production, the project examined how spatial design choices—including object placement, height channels, and binaural rendering—can expand the genre's sonic and emotional possibilities without compromising its essential rhythmic energy. After producing the tracks primarily in FL Studio, the student developed stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes in Pro Tools within a 7.1.4 monitoring environment. Key challenges included low-frequency management, groove preservation, and stereo translation. The project yields both musical deliverables and a practical framework for spatially informed Hip-Hop production.
