Abstract

Songs for the Sun and Moon is a double EP investigating how musical identity transforms through production. The project employs progressive musical replacement, in which one completed composition serves as generative material for a second, independent work. The Sun side draws from soul, pop, and R&B influences, while the Moon side explores experimental electronic, ambient, and atmospheric territories with subtle dance music undertones. Each Moon track originates from its corresponding Sun composition but undergoes vocal fragmentation, tempo modification, harmonic redevelopment, and complete re-recording until little original material remains. Inspired by the Ship of Theseus paradox, the project asks whether continuity can persist through complete transformation. The resulting compositions function not as originals and remixes, but as parallel works connected through lineage.
