Abstract
This project, Mando/Canto-Electro, proposes a research-based creative inquiry into the intersection of Chinese pop heritage and contemporary electronic production methodologies. Through historical analysis, genre deconstruction, and a series of original production works, the study investigates how the emotional expressivity, melodic language, and harmonic aesthetics of classic Mandopop and Cantopop can be reintegrated into modern electronic idioms with refined sound design, arrangement, and mixing approaches. The goal is to articulate a new hybrid production model that bridges East Asian nostalgia and Western electronic aesthetics, contributing to ongoing discourses on cultural hybridity, transnational pop, and post-digital music identity.
