Abstract
Looking Glass aims to provide insight into the process of composing music for animated films through an analytical discussion that identifies and evaluates key scoring principles. This paper contributes to a better understanding of how to integrate certain compositional devices in animation scoring, all the while serving to guide the novice music composer in developing their own approach to the art of composition. The resulting thesis is the culmination of a long personal academic journey in music, and also serves as a personal stepping-stone to the world of professional practice. Finally, this project was produced as a compulsory element towards the fulfilment of the Master of Music in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games at Berklee College of Music.
