Abstract
My project is an orchestral piece based on the poem Fear by Khalil Gibran. The poem describes fear by using the image of a river, which has flown beside mountains and valleys its entire existence, being afraid of merging with the vast ocean because it does not want to lose its sense of self. My piece attempts to convey the same emotions as the poem (nostalgia, anxiety, and eventually transcendence) and eventually will be dubbed to a video using nature shots in Valencia and Los Angeles and a VoiceOver reading of the poem by a male voice actor.
