Abstract
This thesis dissects and analyzes the compositional process of the original piece, Therefore I Am, written for an animated monologue based on the short story and video game “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream”. This piece examines the idea of evil through the lens of the villain. The score follows dark imagery and topics as it creates a mood to match the antagonist, A.M. Ideally, this piece provides perspective on what drives someone to be evil and if they can be understood. This thesis analyzes the main character, narrative picture, and music as the emotions throughout the piece ebbs and flows.
