Volume 13
Introduction
2022 marks the 250th anniversary of one of Haydn’s most interesting and famous works, the “Farewell” Symphony No. 45 in F-sharp minor. Honoring this anniversary, HAYDN: Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America is dedicating its 2023 issue to exploring aspects of the “Farewell” Symphony, including its position as the last of many minor-mode symphonies, reception and influence, and Haydn’s relationship with Prince Nicolaus I Esterházy and other patrons. We encourage submissions that address theoretical, historical, cultural, pedagogical, and performance perspectives. Reviews of related books and recordings are also welcome. HAYDN: Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America is a peer-review, open-access scholarly publication, sponsored by the Haydn Society of North America and Berklee REMIX Research Media and Information Exchange. Items are published on a rolling basis, with volumes identified by calendar year. Please visit https://remix.berklee.edu/haydn-journal/ for information on style and formatting, and to submit articles for peer review and publication consideration. Questions may be addressed to Michael Ruhling, Editorial Director (Michael.Ruhling@rit.edu).Articles
