HAYDN: Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America

Volume 13

Introduction

2022 marks the 250th anniversary of one of Haydn’s most interesting and famous works, the “Farewell” Symphony No. 45 in F-sharp minor. Honoring this anniversary, HAYDN: Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America is dedicating its 2023 issue to exploring aspects of the “Farewell” Symphony, including its position as the last of many minor-mode symphonies, reception and influence, and Haydn’s relationship with Prince Nicolaus I Esterházy and other patrons. We encourage submissions that address theoretical, historical, cultural, pedagogical, and performance perspectives. Reviews of related books and recordings are also welcome. HAYDN: Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America is a peer-review, open-access scholarly publication, sponsored by the Haydn Society of North America and Berklee REMIX Research Media and Information Exchange. Items are published on a rolling basis, with volumes identified by calendar year. Please visit https://remix.berklee.edu/haydn-journal/ for information on style and formatting, and to submit articles for peer review and publication consideration. Questions may be addressed to Michael Ruhling, Editorial Director (Michael.Ruhling@rit.edu).
