Abstract
Although research supports the use of music during pregnancy (Liebman & MacLaren 1991), limited research exists on the use of music therapy with antepartum depression (Bauer, Victorson, Rosenbloom, Barocas, & Silver, 2010), and no research was found that focused specifically on adolescents with antepartum depression. Given the challenges that most adolescents face, the additional stress of a pregnancy would place adolescent females at high risk for antepartum depression. The purpose of this study was to collect, analyze, and synthesize a collection of popular songs that can/could be used in music therapy with adolescents diagnosed with antepartum depression.
