Abstract
Jones analyzes which music therapy techniques are successful in creating emotional change in one session with patients who are chemically dependent. Participants attended either a songwriting or a lyric analysis group, and "Visual Analog Mood Scales" measured emotional variables before and after sessions. The results of the tests are presented, with information on the emotions felt by participants and the variables of those in each group. Results of a connected questionnaire also are examined.
