Abstract

Music therapy came to Chalfont Lodge Nursing Care Centre as part of the Nordoff-Robbins music therapy outreach programme. Funded by the Nordoff-Robbins charity, this two-month project aimed to demonstrate the possibilities of music therapy within the home. Ten residents had music therapy over a period of eight weeks. This article offers a summary of the project, giving clinical music therapy examples, resident feedback and staff feedback. It also makes recommendations on the basis of this material for the creation of music therapy posts within a nursing care centre.
