Abstract
Dreamer; a nebulous word that even a galaxy's worth of poetry could never fully define, representing hope in the vision of a reality that has not yet come to be. Our dreams dictate the trajectory of our lives, our ability to find meaning, and reflect the things that we value. An often overlooked aspect is that our dreams are always connected to the work that we do, whether those dreams are guiding our work or are reflective of our fear to dream, work communicates something about the direction we hope to go in, and work is the process in which dreams become reality. It is often when our dreams and work are not aligned that we struggle with a meaning crisis. That is what this project aims to explore; the intersection between work and dreams within reality. The exploration of this word starts from the student's first person embodied experience of an attempt to pursue the student's dreams within the Capitalistic system that is found within North America. The student is able to use his personal experience to connect it with the greater issues found within our culture today regarding work, meaning, dreams, and play.
