Abstract

Beyond the Wall is a new musical parable about a young boy who gives a dying town new life through the power of his imagination. Inspired by the play 'The Post Office' by Rabindranath Tragore, 'Beyond the Wall' is set in a fablish town that hides behind its walls, and centres on Amal - a young boy, bed-ridden by illness, who's brought to live there after the death of his parents. Longing to see the outside world, he talks to the townspeople through his window, and inspires them to embrace the fullness of the world. Set to a grand, adventurous, mythical score, the show highlights the importance of community, the root fallacies of the small-town mindset, and the power of the spirit of abundance.
