Abstract

The present Culminating Experience “Illusion of Destiny” is a song writing project which deals with composing, writing lyrics, arranging and producing four songs to be released as an Extended Play (EP) in the future. The lyrics of the songs are predominantly about various issues of human rights around the world, namely, women’s rights, child rights and religious polarisation. Through this effort of writing socially conscious lyrics, there is an attempt to enhance discussion and dialogue about these various socio-political matters. The lyrics of these songs are in three different languages, namely, Assamese, Hindi and English, depending on the relevance of the issue in the lives of the people speaking each of these languages. The project also includes the conceptualisation and production of a music video of one of the four songs. The music is experimental with multiple genres including Indian folk and classical, rock, pop and funk.
