The Land Where the Sun Sets

Abstract

For this project I edited together a 3-minute video from footage of nature that I shot in Morocco over the winter break, and then scored the video in an orchestral style. The music was recorded at AIR studios in London with a group of professional studio musicians, and then edited and mixed by me. Ultimately, this was a comfortable experience because I am very familiar with writing orchestral music, but also a challenge because I have never scored nature before, let alone a nature video that I shot myself. The paper outlines the whole process of creating and scoring the video, from traveling to Morocco to shoot the footage to recording the music in London and editing the resulting recording. I hope it is interesting and informative.
