Abstract
The Boy My Momma Raised is a project created by Daniel Oh during his time at Berklee NYC that allows the listener to grow with the artist as they traverse it. The choice of the word “Boy” in the title creates a disconnect between the boy Daniel was and the man he has become. This difference in identity from the history of an individual to who they actually are and who they desire to be is the basis for the project. By having a journey for the listener to experience, The Boy My Momma Raised gives the listener a space to accept where they are in life but to experience again their own growth and journey. Depending on what the listener needs, they can sit with a period of their life and grow up at their own pace as they traverse the project.
