Abstract
This research paper discusses the introduction of G Clarinet to the realm of Arabic music. The study paper will primarily focus on introducing the Clarinet into Arabic music taking into account the nature of transposition in G Clarinet and the nature of Arabic music Maqam theory.
A comprehensive analysis of the essential Maqams theory, which forms the foundation of Arabic music, this study aims to identify potential points of differences and commonalities. Additionally, it seeks to break potential barriers that a Western-trained clarinet player may face when learning Arabic Maqam music.
This research will simplify the complicated stereotypes surrounding Maqam music and highlight the similarities in terminology between Western genres, such as classical music and jazz, and Arabic Maqam music.
